In the 1980s, Centro Emmanuel decided to acquire the remaining land belonging to the Galland van Berchem family, completing the current 25 hectares. In 1987, the Center decided to begin a project that is now part of the organization’s identity: the demonstrative agroecological farm. This is the result of a commitment to caring for life and exploring alternatives to the conventional production model and its socio-environmental consequences. It currently operates a crop-livestock rotation system where corn, sunflowers, wheat, and various pastures are grown to feed our cows. There is also a dairy farm with an artisanal cheese and dulce de leche factory. A greenhouse and orchard with fruit trees are also located. The entire production system is open to direct sales of our own products and those of other local producers. The entire production system can be explored and explored through an ecotourism circuit with information panels on various aspects of biodiversity, soil care, food sovereignty, native flora, and more. In this way, the entire farm becomes an Open Environmental Classroom (AAA – Aula Ambiental Abierta, in spanish) where groups from educational centers or the general public can experience a sustainable agroecosystem firsthand.
We produce using an agroecological approach. We have an on-farm market where you can find our cheeses and dulce de leche, among other products.
We offer various options to explore the farm, its production cycle, the stone chapel and its history, and sample our cuisine. We are part of the Route of Cheese, a tourism proposal among dairy producers in the region.
As an Open Environmental Classroom we receive visits from schools to colleges and other social groups interested in learning about agroecology, biodiversity and more.
You can visit the Center through an ecotourism circuit: various panels allow you to interpret the farm’s aspects and discover the principles of agroecology and the production system.
Ecotourism tours tailored to the visiting group are available, allowing you to learn about the agroecological farm’s production system, taste our cheeses and artisanal products, discover the history of the Center and its stone chapel, and share lunch, breakfast, or a snack in our dining room, enjoying the peaceful, green surroundings.
On Saturdays, we offer the week’s fruit and vegetable harvest, along with our artisanal products:
And more! We also sell products from local producers, such as eggs, wines, honey, nuts, and yogurt.
